WebSphere Portal provides a customizable and extensible environment to provide a single point of interaction for applications, users, and processes. Any one who has ever used Yahoo.com or Excite.com is familiar with the concept of a portal, and WebSphere Portal is the type of software behind such portals. Portlets are server-side applications providing the function of the portal. This course shows how to build portlets using WebSphere Studio and the Portal Toolkit. Each chapter concludes with review questions so students may test their knowledge. Project labs are incorporated throughout the course to reinforce the topics studied. After completing this course, you will be able to: - Describe the Portal product family
- Understand portlet API
- Use events and messaging in portlet development
