Built for experienced Unix administrators moving to enterprise Linux, this accelerated course combines the full scope of GL250 (Enterprise Linux Systems Administration) and GL275 (Enterprise Linux Networking Services) into a single intensive program. Students gain end-to-end proficiency in Linux systems administration and production network services deployment on their choice of RHEL or SLES, with Unix-to-Linux comparison matrices throughout the course to bridge existing knowledge.
The curriculum spans kernel and hardware management, systemd service control, GRUB2 boot configuration, and package management with RPM, dnf, and zypper. Core infrastructure topics include local and remote storage administration with LVM, software RAID, NFS, and iSCSI, along with user account management using PAM and LDAP directory integration. Security hardening covers SELinux, AppArmor, Netfilter, and POSIX file access control lists. The networking services half of the course addresses BIND DNS, Apache web server, MariaDB databases, 389 Directory Server, vsFTPd, Squid proxy, Samba file sharing, Postfix mail transport, and Dovecot and Cyrus IMAP.
All twenty-one chapters include hands-on lab exercises where students configure, deploy, and troubleshoot services on live systems. With over 100 labs, the course builds practical skills that translate directly from Unix administration experience to Linux production environments.
